How to tag clothes for consignment
A consignment tag carries more than a price. Shoppers look for the brand and size first, so put both on the tag in the largest type after the price, and condition on the page behind the QR code. The 2×3" hang tag here prints brand, size and price together, with a code that opens photos and details.
Attach tags the same way every time — a tagging gun through the care label, or a string through a buttonhole — so shoppers know where to look. Keep the tag away from the fabric's face to avoid marks.
Consignor info on tags
Many shops track the consignor and intake date on the tag so items can be returned or marked down on schedule. Keep it off the shopper-facing side: a short consignor number in the item's name or notes is enough, and the page shows shoppers only what they need.
Holds, offers and price changes
Consigned items often get marked down after 30 or 60 days. Because the QR code points to a page, not a printed number, you change the price once and every scan shows the new one — reprint only when the price on the tag itself has to change.
With a free account, shoppers can tap "Hold this item" or make an offer from the item's page. You get their contact and decide; nothing leaves the floor until you confirm. For pieces that sell, the same tag then points shoppers to similar items still in the store.
Markdowns without retagging
A typical consignment schedule drops prices by 20% after 30 days and 40% after 60. With a printed price, that means a new tag for every item on every markdown. With a QR tag, print the original price — or leave it off and show only brand and size — and change the price on the item's page as the schedule moves. Shoppers always see the current price, and your staff spends the time on intake instead of relabeling.
